About the Tipi

The Tipi at SunRaven was installed in the summer of 2017. It was custom made to represent the embodiment of the Slow Medicine principles of harmony and tranquility.

Depicted on the outer covering are the 4 legged and the winged, and the grass that sustains them. Images of the Sun and Raven are woven into the fabric as well and shine through into the interior space which is illuminated by day by the sun and the moon and stars at night.

Participants gather around the central fire pit, reminiscent of times when the people connected regularly in this manner. This sacred space is where we celebrate the cycles of the Moon and Sun, where men and women gather to share their stories and wisdom.

It is a place of peace and mostly, a place of reconnection, so essential to the healing we seek as individuals and as a community.
